Hey there!~ today has been a great day, the weather was sunny and the air was cool plus the wind speed was just nice. I met up with my course mate frm KK today with her friend in front of my college. After enquiring a few stuff we headed to the city east campus of UNISA which is also linked to Adelaide Uni..my course mate Emily was looking for accomodation. There were lots of leaflets sticked on the notice board and most of it are infos on accomodation, some students looking for another room mate and Etc...
After that we went to had lunch then unexpectedly they asked me whether i want to go to the beach. Since i had nth much to do i decided to follow them. In order to go to the beach we hav to take a tram at the city south of adelaide. The tram ride was about 20mins and thats the only route the tram goes in Adelaide. You wouldnt see any tram service in the city centre.
When i bought my tram tickets, the lady who sold me the tickets gave me back a coin...when i looked at the coin..it just looked so familiar..round (of course) with the "bank negara...." word on it..then for a moment i was stunned..wait a min.."bank negara.." isnt that Msia 20cents coin???? ..no way australia used Msia coin...oh my..
The 10cents coin here has the exact size of a 20cents coin in Msia. So i guess today is my lucky day.
The view of the beach was spectacular, there were appartments facing the seaside, shops , pubs and restaurant along the road. Since the weather was nice ...it was a good day for the aussies to go sunbathing, fishing and picnic. I have also seen all types of different breed of dogs today, frm tiny to large...chihuahua, golden retriver, sausage dog =P , bulldog, and there was one tat looked like a husky...ahhh they are all so adorable. Dogs here hav good life.
We had ice cream too when we were at the beach..ahahaha my first ice cream in Aus. The ice cream is so rich, the inside of the ice cream con is coated with chocolate..u can select any other type of coating..depends on wat u like, then u select two diff type of flavours..omg there is just too many flavours that i cant make up my mind..in the end i choosed "rum n raisins" and "chocolatechip n cookies".., next they add cream and a hazelnut on top of the icecream..Mmmmmm...it was good but abit too sweet tho.
---fattening---fattening---
We waited till sunsets and headed back home.
Tmr would b my first day in college..looking forward to meeting new friends. gotta go now..its 1.45am here..shud b sleeping by now.
till then!

Grote St. (while waiting for the free bus)

Part of Adelaide City

haha like the flower. Taken frm neighbourhood.

Gray street (the St. where my residence is)

View of Adelaide City at Windy Hill
(Above pic : Sunset view...the tiny bright dot is not the comet tho)
Today is a public holiday here in Australia (Australian Day) ..did nth much today, This morning i planned to buy some food frm Coles Supermarket, venture the place myself too!.Walked all the way to Chinatown and the place was closed including the supermarket. Unlike in M'sia the supermarket is opened during public holidays. I got confused with the main entrance of the supermarket..cause i normally enter the supermarket through chinatown..hahaa..
Oh well at least i had a good morning walk..plus the wind was exceptionally strong today and my hair was all messed up..Grrrrrr...
Hmmmm..when everything is quiet down i start to miss my home and my parents...>.<
The weather is starting to get colder...expecting rainy days in the next couple of days.
Tats it for now..till then!

♥ Hello!!
Grettings frm Adelaide!~
Touched down Adelaide yesterday morning at around 7.15am, the whole journey to Adelaide was okay, altho my heart was very heavy..missed my mom & dad and all my friends..the feeling is just unbearable. Feeling homesick and had abit of culture shock! Not to bad nw.My flight to Adelaide was about 7hours,I couldnt get any sleep in the airplane and it was abit stuffy, my nose was blocked and itchy all the way >.< at least i manage to watch two movies..haha..Material Girls (acted by Hillary Duff and her sister i think) and The Last kiss (which i find it boring). There were only a few asians in the airplane less than 10ppl, the rest are all Aussies and maybe some frm other country.
Luckily me and my bro's luggage wasnt overweight..well only 400g and luckily everything went well in the custom n immigration section at the Adelaide airport altho my bro's luggage was badly damaged..must be badly thrown by those ROUGH MAS ppl in KK or KL!!!! @**#&^@!!!!
The weather here is sunny and the wind is cool! ahhh...i enjoy the weather. one thing annoying that u will find during summer is one or two flies flying around you as u walk along the streets..
I think the flies here are curious of wats inside our nose. ish..annoying flies.
Yesterday my bro showed me how to take the "free bus" which goes around the city and only stops at certain place, then went to target to buy my pillow, duvet and my sim card. I went to see my college too which is about 5-10mins walk frm where i stay..just walk straight down the street and pass by a few traffic lights! In the afternoon we went to China town to buy some food..there were all sorts of food sold in Chinatown like fresh vege, fruits, variety of roasted nuts, fresh yoghurt,ice-cream, bacon, ham, all kinds of sausages and etc..@.@ Mmmm. The price of vegetables and fuits are lowered down when the stall is about to close.
Within one day i managed to look around the city , get to know a few of my bro's friend and witnessed a falling star!!! or a comet?..My bro's friend drove to a place called Windy Point where u can see the whole view of Adelaide city! The view was spectacular. It was around 9.30pm and the sun was just about to set...its like 6pm in M'sia. We managed to see the falling star hahaaha..it was tiny like a small bright dot with 3 lines ...moving really slow. Alot of ppl went to see it too and took video/picture. I took some picture too with my hp but couldnt see the star..hahaha and some of the scenery pic i took was quite blur. Wow, how amazing is tat..first time witnessing a falling star on the first day in Adelaide!
After all that, i followed my bro and his friends to eat deep fried ice cream since one of my bro's friend has never heard of it and is surprised that there is such thing called Deep Fried Ice cream! All the way he was saying.."how could u deep fry ice cream when it easily melts!" and the rest of his friends were explaining to him tat the ice cream is coated with something and put into hot oil for few secs and u will get deep fried ice cream! LOL..
We went to a chinese restaurant to hav it. Tasted good and i m equally curious to know how they do it. LOL..its like a square shape with the ice cream inside and the outside layer is fried coconut..the outside layer is somewhat folded like an envelope..unlike in KK..its round! lol.
Hmm..i m still adapting myself to the new enviroment and familiarize myself with the streets. finally sorted out my small room.
will blog again soon! mayb add some pics.
till then! ciou!

♥ Bon Voyage~
I cant believe in 12 hours time i will be leaving KK. >.< Right now i m starting to miss home..:( Oh well i should b looking forward for something better and also look forward to come back end the year!~
Packing had given me so much headache. Now i kno its better to use suitcase tat is made out of canvas..rather than those hard ones that u can drag, it makes so much difference in weight when u stuff all ur clothings inside..specially heavy ones like jackets n jeans. *Phew* HOpefully the weighing scale in my hse is accurate! AND hopefully not overweight when i check-in the bargage!
........Next thing to worry about is passing thru the imgration and custom section when i arrive at the Adelaide airport.......... >.<
Goodbye hometown..Aus here i come!!!!!
Till then!

I cant believe that in less than a week time i will be leaving KK. The feeling is getting heavier and heavier, leaving my hometown and going to a foreign place. I will miss my home, my pet, my bed, my study room, mom's homecook food, basically every single thing i have and most of all my beloved parents. They have done so much for me and has given me unconditional love, what more they gav me a second chance to prove myself. They have done all they could to give me the best. I consider myself very lucky to have such wonderful parents. Not to forget a very carring brother.
>.<
Well i have sorted out all my shoppings and the last thing to do now is packing. MAS only allow first timers extra 5KG instead of 10KG so all in all i luggage has to be exactly 25KG!!!!!!
Yesterday i dig through my drawers to hunt for unused stationaries and placed them all on my table. lets see what did i manage to dig out...
few notepads (medium size and small size) including stick-on notepads, unused foolscap paper (about 4sets), 1 pencil case of colour pens, 1 pencil case of ballpens and ink pens, pencils, liquid paper (1) , thin folder (5sets), i never knew i hav so many of them! and its more than enough. Hidden treasures in my drawer. My dad said i could open a stationery shop.
Then i turn to my books, Hmmmm....if i were to bring all my books it would be more than 10KG! Eventho they might be usefull for my studies i think i m not able to bring them all unless there is extra weight left. Sigh, i just have to shut my eyes and think of the limited weight that i can carry. Oh well i will just bring my important notes. i weigh it and its about 2KG. geeez.
There wasnt any reply from the college about my enquire. I received a call from my agent few days ago and she said there will be a depature briefing this Sunday at the Dewan ______ at the SESB building. My college representatives will be there and other students who are goin to the same college or another college will be there too! So i m guessing that i will be informed on what is going ,where to go and what to bring on the day my course starts. Its something like an early preparations for us too, in a way we get to know a few people so that we wouldnt be lost on that day. Hmmm.
Oh! Yesterday i received an unknown phonecall. Phone call conversation (which was in mandarin) ;
unknown caller: is this yapp sing hui?
me: yes.
unknown caller: oh are u the student who is going to adelaide?
me: yes. ( how did u find me? )
unknown caller: oh, i got your phone number from AC service. I was asking them who else is
going to Adelaide besides my daughter.
me: Oh i see, ( so thats how u find me)
unknown caller: ya..since my daughter is goin there for the first time , i was thinking u kno we could get to kno each other better. my daughter's name is emily chong from tshung tsin. which school r u frm?
me: lok yuk! (omg! just dint wan the lady to asked more)
unknown caller: i see i see,so when are you leaving? i was wondering if you and my daughter is leaving on the same day.
me: i m leaving on the 22nd.
unknown caller: WAH!!! so early ar??? i thought the course starts on the 30th?? why r u goin so early? my daughter is only leaving on the 26th!
me: hehehe. cause my brother's summer course is goin to star on the 29th so i hav to be there a week earlier. he is bringing me over.
unknown caller: u got summer course meh?
me: No not me my brother.
unknown caller: oh oh..aiyah..how to meet up ar?
me: i thought there will be a depareture briefing this sunday......
unknown caller: ya ya..but i wouldnt b able to make it cuz my whole family will be goin to keningau. tats the problem.
me: oh oh. (too bad)
unknown caller : so how bout ur accomodation?
me: i m staying at "our aussie retreat" its like a building which is divided into many rooms.
unknown caller: oh..is it in the city? do u cook ur self or what?
me: yes it is and they have common kitchen.
unknown caller : oh i see..i see..aiya my daughter's accomodation is not sorted out yet, still waiting for reply.
me: i see.
uknown caller: is it alright if my daughter stay at ur room if she hasnt gotten her accomodation sorted out.
me: Hah (wat the..) ..oh..sorry but my room is really really small. maybe i can help u find out whether there is other rooms available.
unknown caller: oh can can tat would b good. where do u live?
me: taman BDC
unknown caller: aiya tats quite far , i live in dah yeh villa just nearby ttss school..i was wondering how to meet...
me: ok.
unknown caller: maybe i will call u in a few days time., asked my daugther to talk to u.
me: ok.
unknown caller: thanks ar, wats ur name again?
me: oh just call me felicia yapp ( T_T)
unknown caller: ok ..felicia..bye thanks again.
me: bye.
After all that conversation, by the look of it, the girls mom seems anxious. i m sure every mother would feel the same too.
and i wonder whether she knew that the college can help them arrange accomdation plus picking students frm the airport.
Anyway, just i m glad to know that there is a student frm KK goin to that college. ;)
tats all for now. ciou~

Hahaha first post for the year 2007!!! btw, *HaPPy NeW YeAR*!!!
Time is passing really fast, i cant believe 6 months after i graduated frm IS just passed by like that. What more i m counting down days now before i step my foot out of Kota Kinabalu...or the land below the wind..and heading to the land at the south of Australia..wuahahahahahahaa...>.<
Gosh...17 more days to go, its less than a month. Lots of things going through my mind now...
Finally my visa is approved! Thanked God!! luckily nothing went wrong. since my visa is sorted out i have other things to worry about now... first:
Packing is a major problem. i wonder if i can fit evrything that i m bringing into each luggage.
Yesterday was really a troublesome day, after paying up the air-tickets my dad asked the travel agent on how to go about the extra weight given to students. The travel agent said they allow first timers extra 5kg instead of 10kg and in order to get it i need to apply for a student grad card. I also need to get my principal's signature just to proof that i m a student. From that moment we didnt think futher and straight away went IS. I dreaded to go back there but i have no choice...just to get the extra weight. Once i reached there, one of the secretary told me that the CEO was out for lunch break and asked me to wait or passed the form to her and come back later to get it. Then madam lee came and i explain evrything to her. She said that the school cannot sign it because i m no longer an IS student eventho i was, plus the airline company will need my verification frm the school, tats why they cant cheat. T_T It was a waste of time and effort goin to IS and get nth in return.hahaha.
So my dad turn to plan B, he asked his secretary to find out whether MAS airline allows first timer student to bring extra 10kg weight and they do allow it! Not neccesary i need to have a grad card.
So i went to the MAS admin office just to reasure that they allow it and at the same time i applied for a temporary grad card ( i dont even need the principal's signature!!!!!). Phew* Luckily MAS airline allows first timers student an extra 10kg.
Another thing i just realised and starting to worry about is that i dont know what time i should reach the college on the 30th ,where to meet and what to bring.
I wasnt inform by the college...sigh*
Anyway according to my agent, the college representatives are coming next Fri so i can meet up with them and clear my doubts.
I have emailed one of the representative, hopefully she will reply so it wouldnt b a trouble to go all the way to SESB building. T_T
Hmmmmm.........after one problem/worries solved another comes...................
Its just so troublesome!
thats it for now!
