Easter break is ....................................coming to an end..boohoo.
Its funny why each universities in every state of Aus has different dates of holidays..or shall i say Deakin Uni is abit stingy with inter-sem break..like for this Easter break/mid-term break we only have a week of hols, whereas the unis in Adelaide has two weeks break this coming 14th of April...
Besides, we have to go back to uni during Labour day.. = . =" (so what is labour day to the uni staff?)
Oh well..no point complaining.
Spend Easter over at my cousin's house in Melbourne..last weekend. Explored melbourne city with my friends on saturday and sunday, although most of the shops were closed but the city is still as busy as ever. The Asian population in Melbourne is quite large, so u tend to feel more homely..seeing more of your kind. plus u dont have to worry much about food, cuz there are lots of asian food restaurants around the corner!~~
We went to this Malaysian own restaurant on sunday to have lunch since two of my friends are muslims. We were the first customer, took our order and waited. More people were dining in and we continued to wait.........for like 3 hours and there comes my 'char kuey teow' !!!!
Those customers who came after us, ate and left before we do. Apparently there was only 1 cook....! One of my friends said he probably took the entire time preparing the ingredients or probably went to the market to get some fresh meat/poultry. Not worth waiting as the entire afternoon was wasted and everyone was starving. At least the Tom Yum soup was complimentary after the long wait. That would be the very first and the very last time i dine in there.
Made sushi for my relatives on monday! Hahaha which was great fun!~ Skill of rolling the sushi is improving..nyehehehe.
Went back to Geelong on tues, my relatives were forcing me to stay another night but i decided to head back to Geelong to sort out some of my stuff..one of them..completing my assignments..which is only half completed at the moment and heaps of readings to do!! Ahhhh!
Today i went to the post office to apply for my 'children check' ( cuz in the future i might deal with children therefore its better to apply for a pass). I arrived at the main post office in the city which is like 20-25mins walk frm my house. After handing in the form, the person who attended to me said that i need to show him my actual passport for identification, photocopy is not acceptable...arghhhh...
so i have to walk back home to get my passport, although i was dreading to walk another 25mins back through and flow....i decided to head to the uni library first to finish up part of my assignments.
I sorted out everything in the afternoon and went back to uni again to meet up with my friends. On the way to the uni, i was walking across the road and on my right hand side..the traffic light was green and a few cars was passing by, suddenly this person threw out something from the car. I thought it was a cigarrette, when i look at it there was smoke coming out and it looks like a straw orange in colour bout 6cm. At that point, i had a feeling that it was goin to explode! true enough it did, right in front of me...my reflex system was not fast enough to ask my leg muscles to stop and turn back....i just moved forward! The blast sounded like an ordinary fire cracker played during CNY!!! I was just too shocked..stupid people who did that. I was probably there at the wrong time..but it was only 3pm!! Luckily it wasnt a bomb or tear gas/poisonous ones..or else i will end up in the hospital or worse dead.
Yesterday while walking back home...a person riding a bicycle was heading towards me. He stopped and asked me if i want to buy a walkman because he doesnt have a single cent. He was listening to it and took walkman out from his pocket, saying how brand new it is but it looked like an old piece of junk to me. I was like sorry dude, i have no cash either and i dont want your walkman. I quickly walked off........ ahhhh!! Luckily he didnt force me to buy his old junk or pull out a knife and start pointing at me...............or stab me from behind for not purchasing his walkman....(ok thinking too much). Its horrible.
Starting to get a bad impression of this place..well this is not the first time, there was once when me and my group of friends were crossing the traffic light at a junction during the night, a car stopped at the traffic light (cuz its red)..then i was like watching the car, P Pai with a few teenagers inside and the music incredibly loud..they started winding down the window...then when the car was turning at the junction..they started yelling at us...didnt quite hear what they said but yeah........they are just a bunch of kids who think that they are so great that they rule the entire Geelong city and its too bad for them cuz they dont have enough exposure. Wait till they go to Malaysia...or wherever..hopefully the philipinos will kidnapped them.
Ahhhhh..abit scared to move around now. Apparently the local people here dislike Asians, .......particullarly those from mainland china...dont know how true it is.
Anyways.........i better put some sharp / hard items enough to hit a person till he/she faints in my bag the next time i go out even to Uni.
..............thats it for now.

It has been a week since uni started and this week is my 2nd week in uni. I have to say that uni life is way different than high school/college life. You have to stand on your own feet, learn how to organize yourself plus keep yourself updated with whatever information. I think students pretty much rely on the school's 'Blackboard learning system' which is the centre of all the information you can get..lecture notes, unit guides, notice from lecturers, recorded lectures, there is discussion room as well where students can post up questions, introduce yourself or even write your own personal journal. Its called DSO (Deakin Studies Online), so each time what you will hear frm the lecturer is..log on to DSO....DSO and again DSO. They advice students to log-in at least once a week or 3 times..but i think EVERYDAY is the right answer.
I am occupied with lots of readings as well as a few assignments to start with. Lectures has been interesting so far. Learn most of the topics before for my 'human structure and function' unit which is basically Biology and abit of chemistry. Yesterday i had my 'Communication & Diversity' lecture. This unit is very new to me and its related to the course that i'm doing as i have to deal with patients in the future. So we have to understand the meaning and importance of communication. The lecturer for this unit wasnt available yesterday so another tutor took over. When she started the lecture, everyone was on full concentration mode. Everything started to turn bad when her voice wasnt loud enough and she started reading through the slides or the lecturer's notes without even noticing that she is way ahead from the slide that was displayed. I was lost and i am not the only one but everyone was clueless. The whole class was restless, looking at their watches and turning left and right. The lecturer herself notice it and started appologizing, saying that she was not prepared and there is lots of information that has to be explained. Students started to raise their hands asking whether the notes can be posted on DSO. Instead of having a one and a half hour lecture, it only lasted for 45minutes. Thanked God she let us off early, cuz its unbearable and there is no point because she was reading from her notes. i suddenly thought of Miss Beatrice and imagine this lecturer doing a presentation in her class..she would be a dead duck.
At least tutorials has been interesting and fun!! Its more like a one to one session with the lecturer or another tutor. A chance for you to voice out your opinion as well but when it comes to group discussion..i sometimes find it difficult to communicate with the students, not that i cant understand what they are saying..i just dont understand why they dont respond spontaneously or....just being quiet. Arggghh...sometimes i just feel like getting my note book and hit each and everyone's head..those that just keep quiet i mean.. Damn it. ........anyways, some local students are very friendly and some just give you a evil smile.
Sometimes i find it hard to talk to them, just have to tune into the right channel which is not easy to do. HAHA..its about time i watch more TV shows, get updated with the sports here. *_*
I feel bad.........when they are talking and talking and i just listen. Hate being too quiet.
I do notice that aussie students are very much independant, they study and do part time jobs to earn some pocket money. They use their pocket money to cover up their expenses and they only rely on their parents to support them in their studies. Its an eye opener for me and i do realise that i should get a part time job myself.
Even to them, the Uni cafe food is expensive..what more can you say being an international student..the uni cafe food cost a bomb..if u convert it to RM. Could easily get 3 bowl of laksa. Damn i miss laksa.
Although at times i find it difficult when i m with my local aussie friends or when i face local students who just dont give u a single damn, i think i should just appreciate with what i have.. i should be thankful that there are those who kindly accepts me as a friend without hesitation. Just need to fit in and follow the flow....
The locals really love the sun, the beach and clubbing. They love to have their lunches outside the courtyard..under the sun with the cool breeze..while i try to sit under the shade away from the glaring sun. Please i dont wanna be tanned again. Its really hot this few days, 39 degrees tomorrow...arghhhh..hate the sticky and sweaty feeling. I pity my fellow friends in Adelaide. Adelaide is currently facing a nasty heat wave..with temperature of 40 degrees which i heard will carry on till end of march. it is suppose to be Autumn..feels more like summer.
Climate changes............ahhh.
ANyways i m off to bed now. Friday off tmr! YAY..............sleep in...................

HELLO!!!!
My blog is soooooooooo not dead yet. hehehe.
Finally in the land of Oz, the state of Victoria -the place to be- in the city of Geelong. Surprisingly Geelong is the 2nd largest city in Victoria..maybe its because of how wide spread it is. No sky scrapers in the city centre tho, but the place is pretty hilly..have to walk up and down the hill.
Right in front of my campus is the beach!! which is one of the main attractions in Geelong..including the famous best fish n chips in town which i have not tried yet.
0'week and orientation for international students is finally over, and Uni life begins tomorrow!!! Ahhh..!! Starter of the day 'Human structure & function' lecture. Mmmm.
This year is definitely going to be a challenging one, being the only international student in this course. Have to blend in with the local Aussies or else u will be left out. ><>
Bigggggggg Sighhhhh.
Oh well...this is life.
Glad to have the oppurtunity to revisit Adelaide at the same time taking some of stash back to Geelong and not to forget having lots fun with my buddies although i went through lots of trouble goin to the airport after the flight was canceled the night before..such bad luck for my first solo trip. Missing all my friends in Adelaide =(
................l o n e s o m e.....................
I wish Coles / Wollies supermarket reopens asap!!!!!!!! so that i can get my groceries at a cheaper price!!! =.=
Till then.
