Kangaroo Island Trip

Mid-term break begins and 6 days has passed, a week more to go and its back to square one. Anyways, fun beguns on the first day of holiday hehehe... 7 of us all together joined a tour to Kangaroo Island for 3days and 2nights. The price for the whole trip cost a bomb but it was worth going (it has to be and it has been) , On friday right after class, i rushed back home to pack my things..few sets of clothings, toiletries, UNO and poker cards, cell-phone charger, and most important CAMERA. After packing up, i headed straight to my friends house which is near Chinatown. 4 of us stayed overnight at his place. We were being told to meet up at Victoria Square which is just nearby my college and chinatown by 6.30am the next day since the bus would depart at 6.45am.

Saturday 14/04/2007

Woke up at 6am! except for my friend Nick, he woke up an hour an a half earlier since he needs sufficient amount of time in the toilet to bath, do his business, wear his contact lenses and etc.. all of us just washed our face and changed our cloths and the next thing i remember is we ran for our lives! We were just on time, most of the tourist had arrived. The bus was packed and i wasnt able to sit with my friends. We waited for the last 2 passenger who were late. There was an empty sit beside me and one of the last two passenger was an asian guy, so he sat beside me. One glance and i started to guess where he comes judging frm the looks..LOL..hmm..most likely Malaysian, look chinese...or maybe ABC....The bus took us to the port which was about 2 hours ride and then a ferry would take us to the island. Throughout the bus journey, you get to see a different side of Adelaide well more like country side, flat land, certain areas looks like a dessert, then it was up and down the hill where you will see cows and sheeps grazing on the field.

My fellow asian friend slept the whole way..hahaha..and when the bus driver started talking about the area, he jumped up and asked the bus driver to repeat what he said since it is not loud enough.."ermm..can you repeat what u said"...woooo that slang sounds familiar haha! frm that moment i knew he was from Malaysia.

When we were about to arrive the port, he suddenly asked me "where are you from" and i said "Malaysia".."how about you?" he said "i am from S'pore"...*__*"" whopps wrong guess..S'pore never came across my mind! lol. He came to Adelaide to work for a few months and he thought i was on holiday with my family. HAHA.

The ferry ride to Kangaroo island took about 45minutes.

Upon arrival, our tour begins straight away....

Our first stop was Clifford's Honey Farm, but before heading to the farm the tour guide stop by and show us part of the magnificent scenery of kangaroo Island.

The sun was shinning straight on my face i cant even open my eyes!

When we arrived Clifford's Honey Farm, we were each given a cup of sparkling honey juice!! Then we were shown on how honey is extracted and given a chance to taste many different flavours of honey produced by the farm. They also make natural honey ice-cream which was delicious! After visiting the honey farm we headed to Pardana Community Hotel for lunch. Fish and Chips was on the menu served with fresh salads and bread. For dessert : Apple pie!. Yummy..yummy..

After lunch we went to Pardana Wildlife Park. Its a small zoo with a various kinds of wild animal such as kangaroos, wallabies, Australian parrot, cockatoos, koala bears and etc. We were given an oppurtunity to feed the kangaroos, give a pat to the lazy koala bears and most of all snap lots of pics! ok let the picture do the talking.....

arent they cute???

This cockatoo can say "hello" and "goodbye" ..and it bites...-_-

Wallabie

..Lazy koala bear..

Another lazy koala bear..

Sexy chicken...haha

Seal Bay was the next destination where we get to see the seals close-up, swimming and some basking on the sand or shall i say fast asleep enjoying their afternoon nap. We were taken down on the beach by a Park Interpretive Officer and we were being told to stay close in groups plus to keep at least 6 metres distance away from the seals as they might become aggressive. They may look cute but they are wild. Apparently one girl got bitten by a seal and she was badly injured. It was great to have the oppurtunity to get a close-up look at the seals and it would be even more fun if we actually get to touch them...

Life is so relaxing for the seals ay??Us. From left Tony,Nick, Emily, Me, Ruth, Vicky and Ian

Our last stop for the day was at Kingscote, where we get to watch "Pelican Feeding time"..these birds are huge and when they open their beaks..omg i think you can fit a person's head in it!!! HAHA. They could easily hold 3 litres of fish! The person who fed the pelican told us that there was once where a pelican swallowed a chihuahua...belief it or not?!..The tip of the Pelican's beak is sharp and we were told that if we touch the pelican they would think that we are feeding them or they might think there is some food on our hands and the next thing they would do is.....get whole of your hands!...I think you could tell what those sharp tip beaks are gonna do.Eeeekks. Pelicans get annoyed when they have to dive in to get their food.

Big bird-ies...woooo....hungry birds....seaguls can be annoying too...

We stayed at "the log cabin" for the night. The cabin is well equipt with kitchen utensils, towels, bedsheets, television, videos, indoor games like checkers, scrabbles, etc.. and many many more! There are two bedrooms, one master bedroom and another room with two double decker bed and one single bed. Outside the living room there are two more single beds..all in all the cabin can fit in 9 people. I love this complete cabin! makes you feel at home. The temperature drops at night below 20degrees and wild animals will start to come out at night. You could see wallabies and little penguins running around. As you look up at the sky at night, the sky is covered with stars and you could even see the milky way! I am sure Sheereen will love this. LOL..its beautiful..Just feel like lying on the grass all night and stare at the stars! We wanted to do that but the grass was covered with wallabies poo...LOL! everywhere!
